XML Support for Legacy Systems
With the rapid growth of eProcurement systems, on-line catalogues and marketplaces, XML is fast becoming the standard for eBusiness. Many business software systems now offer in-built support for XML orders and invoices. However, ebusiness only works where both parties to a transaction can support it.
Using the latest technologies, Version One can turn spooled textual output from legacy systems without standard XML functionality, into XML documents which can be transmitted electronically or which can be attached to emails.Government, in particular, is promoting the use of XML by dictating XML-based formats for various B2G submissions, including VAT and Intrastat returns, PAYE returns, export declarations, etc.
Version One's web-interface provides document access through a standard browser. Management reports can be automatically posted on the company portal. XML interface allows tight integration with the latest web-enabled business systems as well as company web-sites. When appropriate, a user's own customers can retrieve copy invoices, PoDs, QA test certificates.
XML to Legacy
Inbound XML documents can be converted to legacy text formats such as CSV or flat ASCII files for processing by legacy systems without XML support. The Version One document management software technology can also be used to render XML documents into human-readable documents for printing, faxing or archiving in a document management system.
This technology doesn't just convert XML into HTML (which is easy); it can convert XML into HP PCL output (which prints with pinpoint precision on a laser printer)
- To PDF format which adjusts automatically to different paper sizes in different countries
- To TIFF format for processing using OCR by systems designed to handle scanned documents
XML to XML
The problem with many standards is, which version of the 'standard' to use. Many different 'vocabularies' or 'schema' have arisen in different vertical markets. The Version One solution can be used to extract data from one XML document and use it to create an XML document using a different schema.
XML to EDI, EDI to XML
If you or your trading partners have systems which support EDI but not XML, the Version One document management technology can be employed to convert from one format to another.
