Version One Document Management Goes Green at Softworld 2009
Document management software author, Version One, is focusing on the environmental benefits of its document management and imaging software on stand AF307 at Softworld Accounting and Finance 2009 (13 – 14 October 2009, Olympia 2, London). Version One is also launching its Clean and Green Project at the show and Version One customer, Field Studies Council, a UK environmental education charity, will be presenting a Masterclass 12:30 on 13 October. This presentation will cover the driving factors behind Field Studies Council’s decision to implement Version One’s document management solutions.
As well as providing numerous business benefits, including efficiency and costs savings, Version One’s document management and imaging software makes environmental sense. Tightly integrated into all major accounting and ERP systems, Version One’s systems enable the electronic creation, delivery, authorisation, storage and retrieval of financial documents including invoices, statements and purchase orders. By replacing paper-based financial processes with electronic, automated processes, organisations cut paper waste as well as carbon emissions.
Version One is also launching its Clean and Green Project at Softworld. The purpose of this environmental initiative is to introduce new, innovative environmental measures across the company to further improve Version One's environmental credentials whilst ensuring staff are more engaged that ever with Version One's environmental agenda. This project is also intended to encourage Version One’s customers, suppliers and partners to become as green as possible.
The Clean and Green Project has been launched to tie-in with Version One's twenty year anniversary and encompasses a range of measures including:
- Combining tree planting with shipping refurbished computers to African schools – In partnership with The Tree Appeal, Version One will plant a tree for every software purchase. For every batch of 100 trees planted, ten refurbished computers will be shipped to Africa for use by African school children.
- Green heroes and green villains – nominated monthly, these are awarded to the most green and least green members of staff. Green heroes win a prize and green villains are named and shamed.
- Working with as many green suppliers as possible.
- A Version One software integrated carbon measurement tool due to be launched late 2009.
To increase the awareness of Version One’s Clean and Green Project and for project information and updates as well as green hints and tips, Version One will soon be launching its Eco Gecko website www.ecogecko.org. The staff area of this site will allow Version One staff to suggest ideas for making the company even greener.
