10th June 2008
Document management and document imaging software author, Version One, was presented with an International Green Hero Award at a ceremony at the Tower of London on Monday 2 June 2008 in recognition of the company's Carbon Neutral Initiative. Launched in October 2006, Version One's Carbon Neutral Initiative reduces and offsets the company's CO2 emissions and includes the planting of up to 1000 native broad-leaved trees each year.
This is the third year running that Version One has been honoured with a Green Hero Award by UK environment group, The Green Organisation. The award is presented to companies that demonstrate environmental best practice and a commitment to helping others follow their environmental lead.
Catherine Murphy, Version One's Marketing Manager was presented with the award by world-famous environmentalist Professor David Bellamy OBE. Murphy says, "We're very proud to have received this Green Hero Award. It recognises the Version One team's ongoing commitment to our green agenda and we look forward to examining additional ways in which Version One can make a positive environmental impact."
Murphy adds, "With Version One's Carbon Neutral Initiative, we now offset more carbon than we emit on a yearly basis. By 2010, we will have offset all carbon that has ever been emitted by the company, which is a fantastic achievement."
Version One has been developing ‘paperless office' software since 1989. This software electronically creates, stores, delivers and manages documents, significantly reducing the need to produce, deliver and store paper. As well as being environmentally-friendly, Version One's document management software improves business efficiency, cuts costs and frees-up document storage space.
