Version One Launches Clean and Green Project
Document management software author, Version One, today announces the launch of its latest environmental initiative – The Clean and Green Project.
This project is intended to introduce new, innovative green measures across Version One to further improve the company’s environmental credentials whilst ensuring staff are more engaged than ever with Version One's environmental agenda. This project is also intended to encourage Version One’s customers, suppliers and partners to become as green as possible.
The Clean and Green Project has been launched to tie-in with Version One's twenty year anniversary and encompasses a range of measures including:
- Planting trees and shipping refurbished computers to African schools – In partnership with The Tree Appeal, Version One will plant a tree for every software purchase. For every batch of 100 trees planted, ten refurbished computers will be shipped to Africa for use by African school children.
- The introduction of Green heroes and green villains – nominated monthly, these are awarded to the most green and least green members of staff. Green heroes win a prize and green villains are named and shamed.
- A Version One software integrated carbon measurement tool. Due to be launched late 2009, this will enable companies that use Version One’s document management and imaging software to calculate how many trees and how much carbon they have saved from using Version One.

To increase the awareness of Version One’s Clean and Green Project and for project information and updates as well as green hints and tips, Version One has launched its Eco Gecko website www.ecogecko.org.
The staff area of the Eco Gecko website enables Version One staff to suggest ideas for making the company even greener and these ideas will be discussed in the quarterly Green Ideas Forum meetings. Chaired by General Manager, Julian Buck, and comprising green ambassadors from across the company, the Green Ideas Forum decides which new environmental measures to implement and ensures they are successfully carried-out.
Julian Buck, General Manager of Version One says, “Since the launch of our Carbon Neutral Initiative in 2006, we have been looking at ways to further improve our environmental credentials, including reducing waste and cutting carbon emissions. The Clean and Green Project will give our green agenda a valuable boost, ensuring we remain an environmental leader within the IT industry.”
