Our Green Agenda

Our document management and imaging products are integral to organisations’ environmental agendas as they significantly reduce paper consumption. In line with the environmental benefits of using our technology, we are proud to have launched a company-wide Carbon-Neutral Initiative, which is a worldwide first for the IT industry.

As part of this initiative, we are offsetting our carbon emissions by planting native broad-leaved trees on behalf of new customers that purchase Version One software and services. As each mature tree locks-in approximately one tonne of carbon, our commitment to planting at least 1000 trees per year will make us ‘carbon-neutral’ by October 2007.

Our Carbon-Neutral Initiative also incorporates the following important measures:

The Green travel and transport scheme – Staff are encouraged to car share and travel by public transport where possible. Staff with company cars are encouraged to opt for ‘environmentally-friendly’ vehicles e.g. hybrids or powered by alternative fuels.

Recycling drive – As recycling saves on CO2 emissions, an improved recycling programme is being implemented covering paper, plastic and metal as well as old/broken computer equipment.

Video conferencing initiative – Where possible, we are promoting video conferences rather than face-to-face meetings to reduce CO2 emissions during travel.

Good housekeeping measures – Encouraging staff to turn-off lights and equipment when not in use etc.

Green ideas – Staff are encouraged to suggest ways in which we can become even greener.
